A PDF positon in mass spectrometry analysis

NEW YORK COE/SUNY-Buffalo 招收分析化学博士后

The Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences of University
at Buffalo, State University of New York, is conducting cutting-edge on
clinical protein therapy. Our lab makes cutting-edge mass spec-based
Proteomics available to the UB community, and also develop our own
innovative research in the areas of pharmaceutical and proteomic analysis.
We have state-of-the-art mass spectrometric instruments up running, such as
LTQ/Orbitrap and LTQ/ETD, high pressure nano_LC systems, and some high
sensitivity triple-quad instruments. A post-doc candidate in the fields of
pharmaceutical and biological analysis is sought in this announcement. This
position is also supported by the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department of SUNY
-Buffalo, which is worldwide renowned for its outstanding PK/PD research.

Job description:
Novel analytical method development and validation; research
areas can be directed to one or some of the following areas: ETD improvement
for enhanced protein coverages; high capacity Orbitrap for sensitive
proteomic profiling; development of nano_LC techniques for extensive
proteomic sample separation; complex protein sample handling; ultra-
sensitive quantification of small molecule drugs. Some of the works might
involve novel hardware design and evaluation.
Perform proteomic analysis including protein extraction,
digestion, sequencing and label-free quantification, to support the
collaborative projects of multiple groups;
Carry out small molecule drug/metabolite identification and
quantification, including sample preparation; validate quantification
methods according to FDA regulations; provide guidance and technical support
for collaborators who perform small molecule drug LC/MS analysis;
Manage a LC/MS lab, including but not limited to: hardware
maintenance, consumables & parts ordering/management;
Write scientific papers.

Qualifications:
Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry focusing on liquid chromatography/
mass spectrometry is a must.
Good communication skills in oral and written English is required
;
2 yrs post-doc or industrial research experiences are desirable
but not required.
Candidate with extensive experiences in the proteomic analysis by
mass spectrometry is highly preferable.
Deep understanding and extensive hand-on experiences on various
mass spectrometers, such as linear ion trap, FT-ICR and triple-quadrupole,
are required. The ability of interpreting the fragmentation of small
molecule drugs/metabolites and peptides is a must;
The candidate MUST have strong publication record; at least two
1st author publication in prestigious international journals, should be
published or in press;
Proven expertise in BOTH small molecule drugs and proteomic
analysis using LC/MS is desirable but not required;
Strong background in chromatographic techniques, especially for
resolving highly complex samples and handling nano LC systems, are required;
Extensive experiences in sample preparation techniques, such as L
-L extraction and SPE.
Strong ability in problem-solving;
Good communication skills and is willing to work in a
collaborative environment.

A period of evaluation will be required for this position. Anticipated begin
date is May 10th , 2008. The appointment is for 1 year and is renewable
afterwards. Qualified candidates please send resume, cover letter,
publication list, names and contact info for 3 references to Jun Qu, Ph.D,
Cooke Hall 544, University at Buffalo, Sate University of New York, Amherst,
